Chris Bosh, the fourth Miami player to opt out of his former deal, is being seriously courted by Houston, which will likely offer the 30-year-old star a max contract. That’s not only a huge amount of money, but with James leaving town it also offers a much greater chance at on-court success than Bosh would have in Miami. Packing up his things to go play with Dwight Howard and James Harden seems like a no-brainer.
It’s of course hard to feel too bad for Wade, considering that he collected some $62 million and two championships during James’ four-year stay. Plus there’s the silver lining that Miami now has plenty of spending flexibility, so a trip through the aisles of free agency could turn out quite fruitful. But there’s simply no replacing a LeBron James, and for Wade there’s no chance of replacing that lost $42 million.
